Case Studies The Stud House

The Stud House

Hampton Court Palace, Richmond Upon Thames - (Damp Proofing)

The Stud House is a grade II listed building situated in Hampton Court Park on the grounds of Hampton Court Palace, built in the early 18th century to accommodate the old post of 'Master of the horse'

We were contracted for remedial treatment by traditional builders RJSmith & Co after conducting a survey and producing a report, as there was heavy salt contamination in the proposed kitchen from the 300+year old fireplace, among other small indiscretions like higher outside ground levels, that would benefit from remedial treatment.

RJSmith & Co: "enhanced the rich history of the building with a carefully planned extension, extensive repairs and refurbishment "

K.T. Preservation supplied and installed Wykamol Kontract mesh waterproof cavity drain membrane, on some walls as high as 5+ meters such as in the kitchen and in critical areas across 5 rooms of the incredibly historic property.

The benefit of the membrane here allowed the historic plaster to remain intact rather than tampering with the historic fabric of the building, but also letting the wall breathe and preventing any salt contamination to leach through into the new plaster surface.
